Horizon RC30 Recumbent

The Horizon RC 30 recumbent bike is probably Horizon’s most popular bike currently on the market. It’s been around for a few years now – which is a sign it’s selling so well, Horizon wants to keep it around.

It comes in at a great price point too, which makes it popular with buyers. Is it a good buy for you? Here’s what you need to know:

The Basics:

Price $429 + Free Shipping

User Weight Capacity: 275 lbs

Hand Grip Heart Rate Sensors

5″ Console Displays Time, Distance, Speed, Calories, Heart Rate, Incline, Watts

8 Resistance Levels

8 Built-In Workouts

Pros of the Horizon RC 30 Recumbent Bike:

Highly Sturdy and Stable

Horizon bikes are known for being extremely sturdy – which is nice because there are a lot of bikes at this price point which will shake a bit when you work them. The RC 30 has a very stable base. So it makes you feel extra safe and secure when pedalling.

8 Built-in Workouts

While it’s not a lot of options, you do get some built-in workouts including Manual, Intervals, Rolling, Weight Loss, Tempo, Random, Custom 1 and Custom 2.

Step-Through Design

This basically means you don’t have the gigantic barrier that many past recumbent bikes had between the pedals. So it’s much easier to get on and off the bike.

Adjustable Padded Seat

The seat is oversized and padded with lumbar support to add extra comfort. It’s also adjustable so you can move it closer or away from the console easily, depending on your height.

Cons of the Horizon RC 30 Recumbent Bike:

The seat on this bike is adjustable back and forth – however be aware that you cannot adjust the backrest angle back and forth – which a lot of people really want when it comes to a recumbent bike as it makes things more comfortable.

Another con here is that the console – while easy to use – is not backlit. So you could be straining to see your workout stats if lighting is poor in your workout area.

Finally, you don’t get a lot of resistance levels (eight). Some people may be worried about topping out at eight within the first few months of having the bike – and then having nowhere to go.

Bottom Line:

The Horizon RC 30 Recumbent is a simple, sturdy, well-built recumbent bike coming in at a steal of a price. To get a Horizon at this price point is impressive.

And while there are a few minor issues with it, if you’re looking for a no-frills, solid recumbent the RC 30 may be just right for you.

How To Save:

You can get the Horizon RC30 direct from the Manufacturer. They’re currently offering Free Shipping INSIDE your home (most manufacturers will give you Free Shipping to the curb only. You pay extra to get it inside). So that’s a big strain off your back – and your pocketbook.
