These are two brand new indoor upright bikes that Nordictrack introduced this year – and they both have some impressive features that you don’t usually find with other studio cycles.
Both bikes have incline and decline to add some realistic crosstraining to your workouts. They both also include a pair of free handweights that are easily stored in the console for upper body training.
The best part?
The full color, HD, touch-screen consoles on both bikes. You can watch real-life world trails with iFit Coach right from your console. Or take a studio cycle class from the comfort of your own home!
Both bikes also give you vertically and horizontally adjustable seats with multi-position racing handlebars and oversized, ergonomic pedals.
So how are they different?
And which model is best for you?
Here’s a review of the key differences between the Nordictrack S10i vs S22i Studio bikes to help you decide:
Nordictrack S10i vs S22i – Price
As of this writing the Nordictrack S10i is the more affordable of the two bikes coming in around $500 less than the S22i Bike with Free Shipping here.
The Nordictrack S22i is the premium bike in the series and comes in a bit higher. However you can get a discount on it and get Free Shipping to your home here.
So is the S22i worth the extra money? Let’s look a bit closer:
Nordictrack S10i vs S22i – Console
Both consoles are full-color, HD and touch-screen ready – so you can see your workout stats in full color as you bike. You can also watch the iFit Coach world scenery and streaming workouts in full color through either console.
The difference here is the size of the console window. Here’s the Nordictrack S10i console:
And here’s the console on the Nordictrack S22i:
As you can see the Nordictrack S22i console is massive. It’s a whopping 22 inches across – one of the largest consoles we’ve ever seen on a bike. It’s like having a built-in, interactive tv right in your console.
The console on the S10i model is 10 inches across – so it’s also pretty big (most Nordictrack bike consoles range from about 5 – 7 inches on average).
But basically the S22i model gives you a console that is more than twice the size of the S10i model. This can really make your iFit coach world scenery workouts come alive and can make your cycling experience a lot more enjoyable.
Working Out Off The Bike
The size of the console can also make a difference in the crosstraining workouts off the bikes as well. iFit Coach has a number of crosstraining workouts you can watch.
There are also crosstraining exercises included in many of the streaming studio workouts ( more on iFit below).
Both consoles rotate and swivel 180 degrees – which is very cool. You can move them around to watch them while you’re doing workouts off the bike.
However with a larger screen, these workouts will be a bit easier to see on the S22i bike (see pic below).
A Word About iFit Coach
Both bikes work with something called iFit Coach and a lot of people are confused as to what iFit actually is.
Basically, iFit Coach is an ultra-cool new technology that will work with either of these two bikes (you connect with the touch of a button from your bike console). It gives you much more personalized, immersive cycling experience.
You can use iFit Coach to keep track of your workouts over time, see how far you’ve come and set new goals. Plus you can track the workout information for up to 4 different users on one iFit account. So it’s great for families where everyone can see how far they’ve come.
You can also choose from over 12,000 HD video workouts and cycle famous trails all over the world – from Santorini to the Streets of Paris.
You can bike the trails solo and just enjoy the scenery passing you by in your console screen.
Or watch as a personal trainer leads you through the workout, pointing out famous landmarks along the way.
Can’t get to the gym? No problem.
You can also stream high-energy studio cycling classes from your console for added workout challenge. These workouts incorporate cycling as well as other crosstraining exercises like stretching and weight training.
While iFit Coach is usually a subscription-based service, as of this writing, you can get a 1 year membership to iFit included with the Nordictrack S22i here.
So you can try iFit Coach out on either bike for a full year to see how it works and if it’s right for you.
Be aware however that if you want to continue to use iFit Coach after 1 year, you’ll need an online subscription (you don’t need iFit to use these bikes – however the iFit Coach workouts do give you a lot more training options.)
So what’s the bottom line when comparing the Nordictrack S10i vs S22i studio cycles?
To be honest, I expected there to be more differences between them. However they both give you the same amount of incline and decline.
They both come with the same heavy-grade, commercial steel construction and inertia-enhanced flywheel for added stability.
They’re also both compatible with road bike seats and pedals – so you can change out the seats or pedals on either bike.
They even have the same footprint (length, width and height).
Basically the real difference between them is the size of the console.
However it is quite a difference as the S22i model has screen that is more-than-double the size of the S10i. It’s kind of like having a TV that is double the size of your average TV screen.
On the other hand the S10i is the more affordable of the two – making it more attractive from a budget perspective.
But at the end of the day it comes down to what you want, your budget and workout preferences.
No matter which bike you choose however, you’re still getting a much more immersive training experience than other studio cycles give you – and at a much more affordable price. So you can’t go too far wrong with either bike.
