Which is the best option for you?
The Proform Studio Bikes are both upgrades on the older Proform Tour De France models. These are serious indoor cycles designed to give a more immersive, realistic training experience.
For example, both bikes give you incline and decline to add some realistic crosstraining to your workouts. They also both include a Free pair of 3 pound handweights you can use for upper body training.
And they both come iFit compatible – so you can bike famous trails all over the world.
Both bikes also give you vertically and horizontally adjustable seats with adjustable handlebars so you can find the right fit for you.
So how are they different?
And which model is best for you?
Here’s a review of the key differences between the Proform Studio Bike vs Studio Bike Pro to help you decide:
Proform Studio Bike vs Pro – Price
As of this writing the Proform Studio Bike is the more affordable of the two bikes coming in around $500 less than the Pro Bike with Free Shipping here.
The Proform Studio Bike PRO is the next model up in the series and comes in a bit higher. However you can get a discount on it and get Free Shipping to your home here.
So is the Studio Bike Pro model worth the extra money? Let’s take a closer look:
Studio Bike vs Pro – Console
There’s quite a difference between these two consoles. The Proform Studio Bike console is much more basic with a simple LED display that toggles back and forth between your workout stats.
There is a sturdy tablet holder above the console. So you can attach your tablet and watch your favorites shows or movies as you bike.
The console on the Proform Studio Bike Pro model however takes it up to a whole new level. It includes a multi-color, HD, touch-screen console (as well as a tablet holder).
You can connect to iFit coach through the console on this bike – and watch the trails and studio cycling sessions through the console. Or see your workout stats all at once with a swipe of your finger.
You also get 24 built-in Tour De France workouts on this bike where you can watch and ride different sections of the Tour De France (through your console). This is not included on the standard Proform Studio Bike model (although there are 24 built-in workouts).
As you can see, the PRO model console is quite a bit nicer than the standard Studio bike console with a lot more options.
One other difference?
You may notice that the PRO model also has a dual-speed cooling fan in the console. The Proform Studio Bike does not have a fan.
Proform Studio Bike vs Studio Bike Pro – Incline and Decline
Both bikes give you incline and decline – which is a lot more than you get with other studio bike brands.
However with the Proform Studio Bike you get up to 15% incline and decline.
With the Studio Bike PRO you get up to 20% incline and 20% decline. So you have more crosstraining options with the PRO model.
A Word About iFit Coach
Both bikes are compatible with something called iFit Coach and a lot of people are confused as to what iFit actually is.
Basically, iFit Coach is an ultra-cool new technology that gives you much more personalized, immersive cycling experience.
You can use iFit Coach to keep track of your workouts over time, see how far you’ve come and set new goals. Plus you can track the workout information for up to 4 different users on one iFit account. So it’s great for families where everyone can see how far they’ve come.
You can also choose from over 12,000 HD video workouts and cycle famous trails all over the world – from the Swiss Alps to the Streets of Paris.
You can cycle these world trails solo and just enjoy the scenery passing you by.
Or watch as a personal trainer leads you through the workout, pointing out famous landmarks along the way.
Can’t make it to the gym? No worries.
You can also stream high-energy studio cycling classes right to your bike. These workouts incorporate cycling as well as other crosstraining exercises like stretching and weight training.
If you want to try iFit coach, you’ll need to connect using your own tablet with the Proform Studio Bike. If you want to try iFit with the Studio Bike, but you don’t have your own tablet, you’ll need to buy one.
But with the Studio Bike PRO model, you can connect to iFit directly from your console with the touch of a button.
That way you can watch iFit scenery through the console – and still watch movies or surf the web using your tablet. (Or just skip having a tablet at all).
So what’s the bottom line when comparing the Proform Studio Bike vs Studio Bike Pro?
Well, the PRO model definitely gives you a much nicer full-color, HD console than the simpler LED console on the Studio bike model.
The PRO model also gives you higher incline and deeper decline options for better crosstraining. There are also a few more comfort features on the PRO model like the Tour-de-France workouts and the cooling fan.
Then again the Proform Studio Bike is about $500 less, making it more attractive from a budget standpoint. And if you have a tablet you can use already, you may not care about having the full-color console.
So it really depends on what kind of features you prefer at the end of the day.
