Sole LCB Upright Bike – Right For You?
If you’re looking for a premium commercial-grade upright bike that won’t break the bank, you’ve probably heard about the Sole LCB Upright Bike.
The “LCB” stands for Light Commercial Bike. This basically means that this bike can stand up to light commercial settings like an apartment complex gym or a school weight room.
Of course, it’s also good for a high-end home gym as well.
The LCB is made to give you a more comfortable, ergonomically friendly workout. The pedals have the 2 degree inward slant to keep your body in a more neutral position.
And the monster 30 pound flywheel gives you an ultra-smooth ride. The cushioned gel seat along with the console cooling fan help to keep you comfortable while working out.
So is this bike right for you? Here’s a review of the strengths and weaknesses to help you decide.

Strengths of the Sole LCB Upright Bike:
Built For Maximum Comfort
All the Sole bikes are built with a focus on proper ergonomics and taking the strain off of your hips, joints and back. The pedals are made with a 2 degree inward slant to keep your body in a more neutral position. That makes these bikes great for people with sport injuries, strains or joint injuries. It also makes for more comfort AFTER your workout as well!
Heavy 30 pound Flywheel Gives an Extra Smooth Right
Different bikes carry different weight flywheels. A heavier flywheel gives you a smoother, more comfortable ride, especially when you’re changing resistance levels.
The Sole LCB upright has an impressive 30 pound flywheel, which is one of the best on the market.
40 Resistance Levels
This is a lot of resistance levels – as many home units usually give you about 20 resistance levels. This makes the Sole LCB great for any fitness level – and you won’t quickly top out the resistance during your first year of use.
Self Generating Power
Unlike the Sole B94 Upright, the LCB bike is self-generating. So you don’t need to place it near a plug outlet. You’ll save on electricity and can place the bike anywhere you want in your home.
Huge, Bright, Backlit Console Window
This is one of the largest console windows at this price point and it’s extremely easy to read. You get constant feedback on your stats and you also get a visual graph of your exertion level. There’s also a fan built into the console to keep you cool and convenient one-touch resistance buttons up and down the sides of the console.
Seat is Adjustable Both Vertically and Horizontally
You can adjust the seat up and down. You can also adjust it closer or further away from the console – to get a better fit based on your body size and height. The handlebars are also adjustable – another nice touch that adds a bit more comfort.
Pulse Grip and Wireless Heart Rate Monitor:
You can either use the hand grips to take your pulse and stay in your target fat-burning zone – or you can use the wireless heart rate chest strap. Many people like the wireless option because it’s more accurate.
iPod Dock with Sound System and Earphone port
You can play your favorite tunes on your iPod through the built-in speakers. You can also use the earphone port if you don’t want to make a lot of noise – the earphone jack is not usually included with other bikes, so it’s great to find here.
Weaknesses of the Sole LCB:
While there aren’t a lot of real weaknesses, one thing to note is that you don’t get a lot in terms of bells and whistles on this bike. There are only 10 built-in workouts and an iPod dock – but no online tracking or extra workouts like you get with Nordictrack’s iFit LIVE.
Also be aware that there are 2 warranties on this bike – the home warranty is quite good (including 2 years on service which is excellent). But the commercial warranty is a bit shorter – so if you’re using this bike in a commercial setting, this is something to be aware of before buying.
If you’re looking for more of a commercial-grade upright bike that’s built to stand up to heavier use and give you an ultra-comfortable right, the LCB bike from Sole is worth considering.
While it’s not over-the-top in terms of entertainment options, you can’t beat the construction or the proper ergonomics – especially at this price point.
