Sole LCR Bike

The Sole LCR Recumbent bike is Sole’s premium “light” commercial bike.

This basically means that it’s made to stand up to light commercial use like an apartment gym, physical therapy weight room or school gym.

It can also be used in high end home gyms (or home gyms with heavy use of the bike by multiple users).

Designed with a 2 degree inner angle cant on the foot pedals, the bike gives you a more natural body alignment when you pedal. This also helps to prevent aches in the knees and feet, especially after long or frequent workouts.

You also get a monster 30 lb flywheel for a smoother feeling ride. Plus with up to 40 levels of resistance, there’s lot of room to grow with this bike.

Is the Sole LCR Recumbent Bike right for you? Here’s a rundown of what you should know before you buy:

Sole LCR Recumbent Bike Review – Pros:

2 Degree Inward Angle on Footpedals

This 2 degree inner angle slant puts your body into better alignment and reduces the stress on your joints. This will give you a more comfortable workout – especially if you plan on using your bike frequently or for longer workouts.

30 Pound Flywheel

Different bikes carry different types of flywheel. A heavier flywheel gives you a smoother, more comfortable ride, especially when you’re changing resistance levels.

The Sole LCR recumbent has an impressive 30 pound flywheel, which is one of the best on the market.

Extra Large Console Window

Sole consoles may not be as show as other bike brands – but they are large, clear and easy to read. This is one of the largest console windows on the market (10 inches across) – with a backlit screen. This makes it really easy to read your workout stats while pedalling.

You also get a constant reading of your workout stats at once (there’s no toggling back and forth between stats like on some bikes). There’s also a scrolling intensity graph.

Another nice touch is the built-in cooling fan on top of the console which can help you stay cool during long, intense workouts.

Padded Adjustable Seat with Back Support

Sole has some of the most comfortable bike seats around. This one is easily adjustable forward or back. You can also adjust the back rest. The seat also has lower back support to help people with lower back issues still have a comfortable ride.

40 Resistance Levels

You get a whopping 40 levels of resistance on the Sole LCR bike – which is a lot more than standard bikes give you. So you won’t be topping out on this bike anytime soon. There’s a lot of room to grow with this many resistance levels as your fitness levels improve.

Bluetooth Compatible

The new 2016 model of the Sole LCR recumbent bike is also Bluetooth compatible. You can easily transfer your workout data from your bike to your smart device. You can track your result on the free Sole App or transfer it to another compatible fitness app. This is a great way to monitor your progress and see how far you’ve come.

Heart Rate Monitor

It’s also compatible with a wireless heart rate monitor.

iPod Dock With Speakers

You can also plug in your iPod and play your favorite tunes through the built-in speakers. There’s also an headphone jack if you want to make the workout a bit more quiet.

Sole LCR Recumbent Bike Review – Cons

While the Sole LCR is well-built, stable and comfortable, it does fall down a bit in terms of entertainment options. While the addition of the Bluetooth tracking option is a great touch, you would expect a bit more workout programs and options at this price point.

Most of the money really went into strong construction here without a lot of toys.

Bottom Line?

If you’re looking for a commercial grade bike that won’t break the bank the Sole LCR is definitely worth considering. It’s built for proper ergonomics and back support, which makes it ideal for people with joint, hip or back issues.

Plus with 40 resistance levels, it’s ideal for multiple users at various fitness levels. And the backrest adjustment will also help make your workouts more comfortable.

While it doesn’t give you a ton of bells and whistles as far as built-in workouts, you do get a large, backlit console along with an iPod dock to play your favorites tunes and Bluetooth capability (only on the new model).

Plus, the fit and finish on this bike are a step up from the cheaper department store models – it just looks more like a “commercial bike”.
