Indoor bike trainers have come a long way since the simple spinning bikes of 5 years ago.

Now you can get some amazing indoor bike trainers that give you everything from streaming fitness classes to workout tracking to incline/decline and everything in between!

Below you’ll find what I believe are the best indoor bikes for 2019 – bikes that give you more for your money and take you to the next level of training.

You’ll find the pros and cons of each along with links to where you can find out more information on each bike. Let’s dive in:

Best Indoor Bikes 2019

Norditrack S22i Studio Bike

#1 Nordictrack Commercial S22i Studio Cycle

This bike takes the overall prize for the best indoor bike for 2019.

It’s very similar to the Peloton bike (see below) in that you get an extra-large, HD, full-color console where you can take high-energy fitness classes from your home.

However it offers a lot more than that as well.

With iFit Coach you can not only take a cycling class from home – but you can also bike trails all over the world – from the Swiss Alps to the streets of Paris – and watch real landmarks pass you by in the screen for some virtual reality fun.

You can ride alone – or you can follow different cycling instructors who take you on the workout, coach you and point out interesting landmarks along the way.

But it goes even further than that.

You also get incline and decline on this bike for a much more realistic training feel (another thing you don’t get on the Peloton). The bike will also work with iFit to incline and decline to match the terrain that you’re riding.

The bike console will also swivel. So you can get off the bike and continue to stretch or train based on whatever iFit Workout class you’re watching.

And for upper body training, you get a free pair of 3 pound handweights included with the bike.

A final bonus? This bike is about $300 cheaper than the Peloton as well. So you get more a lot more for a cheaper price.

Plus, if you use the link below, you can get a 1 year membership to iFit Coach included with your bike.

#2 Peloton Indoor Bike

The Peloton bike was the first bike to change the indoor cycling world by putting a screen with streaming cycling classes on their home exercise bikes.

Peloton Bike

So if you couldn’t get to the Peloton cycling class at the gym, it was no problem. Just take one of the livestreaming Peloton classes from your home.

That alone is pretty cool. It adds a whole new level of training to your home workouts.

The bike itself is well-constructed and stable with an adjustable bike seat forward and back as well as comfortable molded handlebars.

The main downside to this bike is the price. Because Peloton had first mover advantage they were able to set their price pretty high. It’s currently the most expensive bike on this list.

Prices start around $2245 and range up to $2600. And that doesn’t even include the monthly membership for the classes.

Overall, while it was cool to start with, there are several other indoor bikes (like the NordictrackS22i above) right now that come in cheaper and just give you more for the money.

However I felt the Peloton bike deserved to be on this list since some people really just love the name and are very loyal to the Peloton brand. If that’s you, then this bike might be worth checking out.

Proform Studio Bike

#3 Proform Studio Bike Pro

The Proform Studio Bike Pro is pretty much Proform’s cheaper answer to the Peloton.

It looks very similar – even down to the molded handlebars and red accents.

It also gives you the full-color, HD, touch-screen console. However the screen here is a bit smaller than either the Nordictrack S22i bike or the Peloton bike above (10 inches vs 22 inches across).

Like the Nordictrack S22i, the Proform Studio Bike works with iFit Coach to give you high-energy cycling classes as well as world-trail workouts. (However unlike the Nordictrack S22i bike, there is no incline or decline on this model).

The big bonus here is the price – under $1000. To get an indoor cycling bike that still gives you fitness classes and a full-color, HD console is a great value.

So if you’re looking for a much more affordable version of the indoor training bike- this is a great option. Plus if you use the link below, you can get a 1 year- subscription to iFit included with the bike!

Schwinn IC3 Bike

#4 Schwinn IC3 Indoor Cycling Bike

If you don’t really care about taking fitness classes or adding any kind of virtual reality style training to your workout, you might want to consider the Schwinn IC3.

It’s simple and bare bones – but it’s well built and stable. And coming in under $500, the price is fantastic.

It has a 40 pound flywheel for a smooth-stable ride. And the seat is easily adjustable both forward and back. You can also add optional toe cages to the pedals if you want.

One downside to this bike is that the console is not great. It’s small, simple and not backlit. So it can be hard to read.

However if you’re looking for a solid, simple bike made by a great name for a steal of a price, this is one to consider.

Nordictrack Grand Tour Pro Bike

#5 Nordictrack Grand Tour Pro

The Nordictrack Grand Tour Pro is another popular indoor bike that adds a new level of training to your workout.

Like some of the other bikes on this list, it has a full-color, HD, touch-screen console that you can use to take iFit cycling classes or ride trails all over the world.

Nordictrack Grand Tour Pro Console

With iFit you can also track your workouts over time, set new goals and see how far you’ve come – which is really helpful and motivational.

The Grand Tour Pro screen is smaller than the Nordictrack S22i Studio Cycle above (10 inches vs 22 inches on the S22i bike). However it’s also about $500 less – making it more affordable.

Another thing people really like about this bike is the integrated tablet holder above the console. So you can attach your tablet and watch your favorite shows or movies as you cycle.

If you’re looking to take advantage of all of the iFit Coach workouts (cycling classes, guided outdoor tours, cycling trails on your own, workout tracking etc.) but you’re on a budget, then the Grand Tour Pro is a great value option.

    Hello
Thanks for this post. I was thinking about the Peloton because I seem to see their commercials everywhere these days. It seems like a cool concept -but I can’t shake the feeling that I’m paying a premium just for the name. Do you think that’s the case? By the time you pay for the bike and the classes and the special shoes…it adds up

The Nordictrack looks like a better option to me – same look but hundreds cheaper and I can incline on the bike. It also just looks more stable to me.

The Proform looks like a knock-off Peloton but it’s also half the price. So I guess you can’t complain.

I’m not sure – any suggestions for me? I’m planning to use the bike 4 times a week and I just want something fun to do – I’m not a huge athlete or anything.

    Thanks – margaret

Thanks for this article – very helpful. But I wouldn’t touch the Peloton with a 10-foot pole. I’ve heard a lot of people aren’t happy with it. Plus with the way the company reacted to the commercial fiasco – so arrogant. I would never give them my money!
