Proform Hybrid Trainer Pro Review
Is It A Good Buy For You?

The Proform Hybrid Trainer Pro Elliptical bike is the premium version of Proform’s very popular Hybrid trainer – a combo elliptical and recumbent bike.
You can use it as a recumbent bike – or with a few quick changes – transform it into an elliptical trainer.
The Pro model gives you a longer stride length than the original Hybrid Trainer.
It also gives you a slightly more comfortable seat, more resistance levels and a heavier flywheel for added stability.

Proform Hybrid Trainer Pro Review – Pros:
2-In-1 Machine
If you’re not sure whether you want a recumbent or an elliptical – this machine is the perfect choice since you get both. You can use is as a recumbent bike – or just make a quick adjustment to the pedals and console and voila – it’s an elliptical trainer.
This is great if you like to challenge your body with different exercises or if you have multiple people in your home who like to do different workout routines.
Longer Stride
The Hybrid Trainer Pro elliptical has a longer stride than the Hybrid Trainer model: 17 inches vs 15 inches. The longer stride helps to work lower body muscles more fully and gives you a better calorie-burning workout overall.
It will also feel much more comfortable for taller users. Most people over 5 foot 8 inches find that a 15 inch stride doesn’t feel natural (or comfortable). (It feels more like stair-climbing than running.)
More Resistance Levels
The Pro model also gives you more room to challenge yourself and grow – with 20 resistance levels (vs 16 found on the Hybrid Trainer model). This means you have a bit more room to improve your fitness level without topping out too quickly.
Tablet Holder Above the Console
If you have a tablet you can use the bracket above the console to watch favorite movies or TV shows as you workout – whether you’re biking or crosstraining!
iFit Compatible
The Proform Hybrid trainer Pro elliptical bike is compatible with iFit Coach (just keep in mind you have to access iFit through your tablet, not the console). So you can download new workouts to your machine or track your workouts over time online.
You can also run (or bike) famous trails all over the world from Hawaii to Paris and watch real life landmarks pass you by in your tablet screen.
Improved Seat
The seat is fully adjustable back or forward – and the seat itself is a bit more cushioned (and more comfortable) than the original model.
iPod Dock with Speakers
You can also plug in your iPod to the console and listen to your workout music through the console speakers – which can add some fun to your workouts.
Hand Grip Heart Rate Sensors
You can stay in your target fat-burning zone with the hand grip sensors on either side of the console.
Improved Pedals
The Pro model comes with improved, upgraded bike pedals (see below) which give a more natural feel to your peddling motion (vs the same pedals that are used for both elliptical and bike mode on the Hybrid Trainer model).
Proform Hybrid Trainer Pro Review – Cons
While you don’t need iFit to use this machine, the iFit subscription is an extra cost – and you’ll need your tablet to see the virtual reality scenery with iFit (you won’t be able to view it through the console).
Also, this is still a starter machine – the warranty is much better than the original model – but it still could be a bit longer.
Bottom Line?
If you’re looking for an elliptical-bike that doesn’t sacrifice quality (as so many of them do), then the Proform Hybrid Trainer Pro is a great choice for you. It has a longer elliptical stride to give you a better lower body workout.
It also has an improved seat for a more comfortable workout and upgraded pedals to make cycling easier and more natural-feeling as well.
You also get more resistance levels, more workout programs and a better warranty than the original model. All of this for under $600 makes the Hybrid Trainer Pro a great value.
