What’s the Real Deal on the Proform TDF CSC Exercise Bike?

The Proform TDF bike has been around – in varying styles and models – for several years now.

The Proform TDF CSC bike is one of the latest, super-affordable models.

It helps you get a more realistic workout with a full-color touch screen and streaming cycling programs.

But in a market that’s already oversaturated with streaming programs, cycling bikes and online tracking options, how does it really stack up?

This post will go over the key pros and cons of the Proform TDF CSC exercise bike to help you decide.

Let’s start with the specs:

Basic Facts:

Price: $899 + Free Shipping

22 Resistance Levels

iFit Compatible

Device Dock with Console Speakers

User Weight Capacity: 250 lbs

Screen Size: 7 inches

Pros of the Proform TDF CSC Bike:

Full-Color, HD Touch-screen

The console screen measures 7-inches across and comes in HD, full-color glory. See your stats with a swipe of your finger.

There are quick-change resistance buttons on the bottom of the console as well as a port for your devices. You can play your favorite workout music through the console speakers as you ride.

Ride World Trails with iFit

iFIt is Proform’s online streaming service. You connect through the console using the Wifi in your home. From there you can ride famous world trails or even map out your own with the Googlemaps feature.

You’ll see the scenery pass you by in the screen as you ride for a more virtual reality style feel.

Don’t want to explore the world? Choose from thousands of streaming – or even live – cycling classes.

The trainer can actually control the bike’s resistance for you during the class for a more hands-free experience.

Adjustable Seat and Handlebars

The handlebars are molded for comfort and you can quickly adjust them up or down to the most comfortable fit for you.

The seat is also adjustable forward, back, up or down (within a limited range).

Pedals

The pedals on this bike come with toe cages and straps to help keep you feet in place without slipping during your workout.

Free 3-pound Handweights

As of this writing you can currently get a free pair of 3-pound dumbbells included with your purchase. So you can add some light upper-body training as you ride.

The weights fit easily into the back wire shelf behind the seat for easy storage.

Cons of the Proform TDF CSC Bike:

TDF Name

The Proform TDF (Tour De France) bikes used to stand out because these were the only bikes where you could ride sections of the Tour De France and watch on your screen like you were really there. But this is no longer the case.

With iFit specialty world rides being added to pretty much every Proform bike now, the TDF bikes have kind of lost their unique advantage. So there’s not really any point to putting the TDF label in the name – except to capitilize on the popularity this bike had years ago. Basically don’t buy this bike for the name – buy it because it’s an affordable studio bike with some nice perks to it that interest you.

iFit

While you don’t need a paid iFit subscription to use this bike (there’s a free version of iFit you can use), you won’t get all of the benefits of iFit – like the live classes or world trail rides – if you don’t have the monthly subscription.

Smaller Console Window

The console window is a bit small, especially when you compare it to the Proform Studio Bike Pro models (with up to 22-inch screens). It’s still good considering the price point. But you might miss out on some of the details of the iFit trails with the smaller screen.

Bottom Line?

As stated above, the TDF name on a bike used to mean the bike had something special to it (like Tour De France races). But this isn’t really the case anymore. There’s nothing wrong with putting the name on the bike – just don’t buy the bike for the name.

At the end of the day this is an affordable starter studio bike with a few nice perks to it – like the streaming classes and world trail rides of iFit.

If that’s what you’re looking for, it’s worth checking out.
