Schwinn IC3 Bike Review – the Pros:
Heavy 40 Pound Flywheel
The heavier flywheel can help give you a smoother-feeling ride, especially during resistance changes. It also helps to anchor the bike for a more stable feel.
Integrated Multi-Media Device Holder
You can attach your tablet or phone and surf the net, watch Netflix or YouTube videos as you cycle. This can make a dull workout a lot more fun and productive.
The holder is above the console – so it won’t block your workout stats as you cycle.
Multiple Grip Positions
The handlebars are curved with multiple grip positions. So you can choose a grip that feels comfortable for you.
The handlebars are also vertically and horizontally adjustable. So again, you can adjust them for the most comfortable position.
The seat is also adjustable both vertically and horizontally.
Wireless Heart Rate Monitoring
This bike will also work with a wireless heart rate monitor (not included with the bike) and will give you a constant display of your heart rate as you ride. So you can stay in your target heart rate zone.
Schwinn IC3 Review – The Cons:
The console on this bike is not backlit. It’s small, simple and can be quite hard to read – especially if lighting is minimal in your workout area.
It’s also quite basic. There are no built-in workouts included or power-resistance controls (you adjust the resistance with the tension knob).
While there aren’t a lot of complaints, if you read the user reviews at the Manufacturer site here, you’ll see there have been some people complaining about the bike starting to make grinding sounds and other noises a couple of months after purchase.
The Schwinn IC3 indoor bike is a super-affordable indoor cycling bike from a well-respected name. It has the basics for a good cycling workout – however you don’t get much else.
The console is very basic and hard to read. There are no built-in workouts or extras included. And some people may not like the tension-style resistance (however that is pretty standard at this price point).
All in all it’s a very basic bike – which is fine if that’s what you’re looking for. Just don’t expect anything over-the-top fancy with this model.
Bikes you may want to compare it to include the Nordictrack Grand Tour or the Proform 8.0 EX Upright.
