Sole LCR Recumbent Bike Review – the Pros:
Built for Health-Club Style Comfort
The Sole LCR bike was built for the high end home gym or a light commercial setting like a physiotherapist office or condo building.
It looks and feels like a health-club style machine complete with easy-to-adjust seat, molded seat and back and heavy-duty steel frame.
You also get a whopping 30-pound flywheel on this model. A heavier flywheel helps to give you a smoother feeling ride, especially during the resistance transitions.
Large, Backlit Console
The Sole LCR bike console is larger than the R92 model – around 10 inches across. It’s also backlit and a little more advanced looking with a simpler, more intuitive layout.
There’s a tablet holder above the console. So you can attach your tablet and watch your favorite shows or Youtube videos as you cycle.
And with a USB port behind the console to charge your tablet, you’ll never have to worry about running out of battery life.
Padded, Adjustable Seat
The molded seat and backrest are padded for extra comfort. You can also easily adjust the bike seat forward and back with the pull mechanism under the seat.
There are also hand-grips on either side of the seat. You can rest your hands there or you can grasp the EKG sensors to get a heart rate reading as you ride. This is handy since you don’t have to reach up to the console to do it.
Another nice touch are the 2 drink holders on either side of the seat (and within easy reach). You can store a water bottle or even a tv remote or your phone in these drink holders as you cycle.
2 Degree Inward Pedal Angle
Sole builds their bikes with a 2-degree inward angle cant on the pedals. This helps to keep your body in better alignment as you cycle.
So it can result in less strain on the joints with less soreness overall, especially after longer workouts.
40 Resistance Levels for Added Challenge
While most bikes at this price point give you around 18-24 levels of resistance, the Sole LCR recumbent bike gives you an impressive 40 levels of resistance.
That means there is a LOT of room to grow with this bike. You won’t top out at the highest resistance level on this bike and have nowhere to go during your first or second year of owning it.
Sole LCR Recumbent Bike – Things To Know:
The console here is larger than Sole’s other models. However, compared to other brands which give you full-color consoles with streaming workouts and world trail cycling like the Nordictrack R35, it does fall down a bit.
Sole hasn’t really updated this bike in a few years and it’s starting to fall behind in terms of tech.
Also, note that Sole says this bike is appropriate for users from 5 foot 3 inches up to 6 foot 5 inches. So if you’re shorter than 5 foot 3 inches, you’re probably better off going with the Sole R92 which can accommodate users from 5 feet and up.
If you’re looking for a solid, well-built recumbent bike that feels like a commercial model, you’ll probably be very happy with the Sole LCR recumbent bike.
With the 2-degree slope of the pedals, molded seat and heavy flywheel it’s built for extra comfort and a smooth ride.
It’s not over-the-top fancy and the console is a bit lacking.
However, the bike really shines when it comes to comfort, proper ergonomic design and durability.
