Sole R92 Recumbent Bike Review – the Pros:
Padded, Adjustable Seat
The molded seat and backrest are padded for extra comfort. There are 12 positions on the bike adjustment. You can also easily adjust the bike seat forward and back with the pull mechanism under the seat.
There are also hand-grips on either side of the seat. You can rest your hands there or you can grasp the EKG sensors to get a heart rate reading as you ride. This is handy since you don’t have to reach up to the console to do it.
Another nice touch are the 2 drink holders on either side of the seat (and within easy reach). You can store a water bottle or even a tv remote or your phone in these drink holders as you cycle.
Backlit Console
While it’s not the most advanced console out there, the 9-inch console on this bike is backlit and easy to read. You can see your workout stats at a glance like speed, time, distance, calories, workout program, heart rate and more.
There are also 10 built-in workout programs to give you some challenge.
Tablet Holder Above the Console
You can attach your tablet above the console and surf the net as you ride. Or enjoy your favorite Netflix or Youtube videos. This is a very handy feature that gives you the flexibility to add in your own entertainment options to your ride.
There’s also a handy USB charging port on the console. So you never have to worry about running out of battery while you’re on the bike.
Wireless Heart Rate Monitor
As of this writing, Sole is also offering a Free Wireless Heart Rate Monitor if you purchase the Sole R92 direct from the Manufacturer here.
So you don’t even have to grasp the handrails to get a heart rate reading. Also, many people find that a wireless heart rate monitor tends to be more accurate and reliable than the EKG grip pulse sensors.
Quiet and Sturdy
One thing that Sole machines are known for is their stable and sturdy feel.
The Sole R92 is a great example of this. It feels solid and sturdy when you ride it and it’s also extremely quiet. This is great for those with little ones in the house – or if you like watching TV as you ride.
Built for a More Comfortable Ride
Sole puts an inner 2-degree angle on the pedals of this bike, which keeps your body in better alignment as you ride.
This means less stress on the joints. It also means less soreness on the legs and feet post-workout (especially after long workouts).
Sole R92 Bike Review – Any Cons?
As stated above, the console is a bit dated on this model. Compared to other brands that are coming up with full-color, HD touch screens and lots of streaming options, this console is on the simpler side.
Also note that you can’t turn the console on or off when you’re done your workout (as you can with the Sole LCR bike).
It only turns off after 30 minutes of no use. It’s not a huge issue, but it can be a bit annoying.
Finally note that while the 20 resistance levels are great to have, if you want a bit more challenge you may want to go up to the Sole LCR bike which gives you 40 resistance levels and a bit more room to grow.
Bottom Line?
The Sole R92 recumbent bike is a classic and has the best-selling history to prove just how popular it is with buyers.
It’s not over-the-top fancy. The bike really focuses more on comfort, good design and affordability.
Sole might have to update the R92 bike in the future as it’s falling behind when compared to what other brands offer. But for now, it’s a great value overall if you want a sturdy, comfortable bike with some decent entertainment options.
